DVA Claims Help for Veterans in Darwin
Darwin is a military city. Robertson Barracks, RAAF Base Darwin, Larrakeyah Defence Precinct, and HMAS Coonawarra make the Top End one of the most concentrated ADF regions in Australia. If you're a veteran in Darwin or the Northern Territory and you need help with a DVA compensation claim, CSC invalidity application, or appeal, Clear Path Veterans can help.
All our consultations are remote. Phone and video, wherever you are in the Territory.
Darwin veterans carry a high operational load. The 1st Brigade has deployed from Robertson Barracks to virtually every major ADF operation since the 1990s — East Timor, Iraq, Afghanistan, and ongoing regional operations. The physical and psychological demands of that tempo produce a broad range of claimable conditions: PTSD from combat and peacekeeping service, musculoskeletal injuries from tropical field training and armoured operations, hearing loss from weapons and aircraft, and skin conditions from years of outdoor service in the Top End.
We also help Darwin veterans navigating the 1 July 2026 VETS Act changes. Veterans with DRCA conditions previously below the 10% threshold may gain access to compensation under the whole-of-person GARP M framework. If you served in Darwin and have never claimed — or claimed years ago under a different Act — it's worth a free call before July.

Darwin veterans carry the operational tempo of Australia's northern defence posture. Robertson Barracks, RAAF Base Darwin, RAAF Base Tindal, and HMAS Coonawarra have deployed personnel to every major regional operation over the past 30 years. Common claims we handle here: PTSD from combat and peacekeeping deployments, musculoskeletal injuries from tropical field training and armoured operations, hearing loss from weapons and aircraft, skin conditions from years of outdoor tropical service, and conditions arising from remote unaccompanied postings.
DVA Compensation Claims
We prepare and lodge initial liability claims under the MRCA, VEA, and DRCA. We handle the evidence, medical liaison, and claimant report forms so your claim is strong before it reaches a delegate.
Permanent Impairment
We help you prepare for your PI assessment and make sure your impairment points and lifestyle rating reflect the real impact on your life.
CSC Invalidity Classification
If you've been medically discharged, your CSC invalidity classification determines your ongoing pension. We help with initial classifications, reconsiderations, and reclassification reviews across MSBS, DFRDB, and ADF Cover.
Appeals and Reviews
If your DVA claim has been refused or your CSC classification is wrong, we help you challenge the decision through reconsideration, the Veterans' Review Board, or the Administrative Review Tribunal.
Serving Veterans Across the Northern Territory
Darwin's ADF presence is significant relative to the city's population. The Top End is a frontline defence region, and the physical demands of training and operating in tropical conditions — heat, humidity, challenging terrain — produce a high rate of service-related conditions. We work with veterans across Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Alice Springs, and the wider NT who served at:
Robertson Barracks (Holtze, Palmerston)
Home to 1st Brigade, the Army's high-readiness deployment brigade. Units include 1st Armoured Regiment (Abrams MBT), 5th/7th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (5/7RAR), 8th/12th Medium Regiment Royal Australian Artillery, 1st Combat Engineer Regiment, and supporting arms including signals, logistics, and aviation. Robertson Barracks has been Australia's primary force generation base for every major operation since 1999 — Operation Stabilise (East Timor), Operations Catalyst and Slipper (Iraq and Afghanistan), Operation Astute (Timor-Leste), and ongoing regional engagements. 1st Brigade veterans typically carry a combination of PTSD from combat and peacekeeping deployments, musculoskeletal injuries from armoured operations and tropical field training, and hearing loss from weapons, artillery, and armoured vehicle noise. The Darwin unaccompanied posting cycle also produces a high rate of mental health and family-related claims.
RAAF Base Darwin
Supporting northern air operations including maritime patrol, transport, and the US Force Posture Initiative (USFPI) rotational presence of B-52 and F-22 aircraft. Home to No. 75 Squadron (F/A-18 Hornet, transitioning to F-35A Lightning II), No. 114 Mobile Control and Reporting Unit, and various supporting elements. RAAF Darwin personnel are exposed to jet aircraft noise from fast jet, transport, and rotary operations, and the base hosts significant numbers of visiting personnel during major exercises. Hearing loss is the most commonly claimed condition for Darwin-based RAAF veterans.
Larrakeyah Defence Precinct
Joint facility on Darwin Harbour, co-located with HMAS Coonawarra. Houses Northern Command (NORCOM), the Joint Logistics Unit North, and various Army and joint service units. Personnel at Larrakeyah serve in command, logistics, and support roles with the physical and occupational demands of a busy joint precinct. Musculoskeletal conditions, hearing loss, and mental health claims from the high operational tempo of a northern command headquarters are all common.
HMAS Coonawarra
Navy facility at Larrakeyah supporting patrol boat operations, hydrographic survey, and Darwin's maritime defence role. Home port for Armidale-class patrol boats conducting Operation Resolute (border protection) and regional maritime surveillance. Personnel at Coonawarra serve in roles with sustained engine room noise, maritime physical demands, and the psychological pressure of border protection operations. Hearing loss, tinnitus, musculoskeletal conditions, and PTSD from operational maritime service are all claimable.
Defence Establishment Berrimah
Army logistics and support facility east of Darwin. Berrimah supports the 1st Brigade with supply chain, maintenance, and equipment storage. Personnel posted here in support roles accumulate the physical and occupational exposures of a working logistics and vehicle maintenance facility.
RAAF Base Tindal (Katherine)
Major air combat base approximately 300km south of Darwin, home to No. 75 Squadron F-35A Lightning II operations and a significant expansion program as part of Australia's northern defence posture. Tindal is one of the most strategically important air bases in Australia. Personnel at Tindal are exposed to extreme fast jet noise from F-35 operations — among the highest noise-generating aircraft in service. Hearing loss and tinnitus are near-universal among flight line and maintenance personnel. The remote posting environment at Tindal also contributes to mental health claims.
If you served at any of these locations, or anywhere else in NT, and you have conditions related to your service, we can help you claim.
