Luke Martin

12 years in the Royal Australian Navy. Co-founded Clear Path Veterans in 2022 after experiencing first-hand how difficult the DVA claims system is to navigate without expert guidance.

Luke enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy in 2007 and served for 12 years across multiple postings and deployments. During that time, he sustained service-related conditions that led him through the DVA claims process — first as a claimant, and later as someone who saw how many veterans were missing out on entitlements they had earned.

After discharge, Luke navigated the DVA system for his own claims, including initial liability under the MRCA, permanent impairment assessments under GARP M, and health card entitlements. The experience revealed how much of the process depends on knowing which SoP factors apply, what evidence DVA actually needs, and how to present a claim at decision-ready standard.

In 2022, Luke co-founded Clear Path Veterans with Mitchell Leeson to help other ADF veterans secure their entitlements. Clear Path Veterans now supports veterans across Australia with DVA compensation claims, CSC invalidity applications, health card applications, and appeals to the Veterans' Review Board and Administrative Review Tribunal.

Luke's areas of focus include MRCA and DRCA initial liability claims, permanent impairment assessments, Statements of Principles analysis, and complex multi-condition claims. He writes the majority of Clear Path Veterans' published guides and condition-specific content.
