DVA Claims Help for Veterans in Cairns
Cairns is home to HMAS Cairns, one of the Royal Australian Navy’s key operational bases in northern Australia. The base supports patrol boat operations, border protection, and maritime surveillance across the Torres Strait and northern approaches. Combined with the broader North Queensland veteran population, Cairns has a significant number of current and former ADF members. If you need help with a DVA compensation claim, CSC invalidity application, or appeal, Clear Path Veterans can help.

DVA Compensation Claims
We prepare and lodge initial liability claims under the MRCA, VEA, and DRCA. We handle the evidence, medical liaison, and claimant report forms so your claim is strong before it reaches a delegate.
Permanent Impairment
We help you prepare for your PI assessment and make sure your impairment points and lifestyle rating reflect the real impact on your life.
CSC Invalidity Classification
If you've been medically discharged, your CSC invalidity classification determines your ongoing pension. We help with initial classifications, reconsiderations, and reclassification reviews across MSBS, DFRDB, and ADF Cover.
Appeals and Reviews
If your DVA claim has been refused or your CSC classification is wrong, we help you challenge the decision through reconsideration, the Veterans' Review Board, or the Administrative Review Tribunal.
Serving veterans across Far North Queensland
Cairns and Far North Queensland have a long military history, from WWII operations through to current border protection and maritime surveillance. Many Navy personnel posted to HMAS Cairns settle in the region permanently. We work with veterans across Cairns, the Atherton Tablelands, Port Douglas, and wider Far North Queensland who served at:
HMAS Cairns
The RAN’s primary base in Far North Queensland. Home port for Armidale-class patrol boats and the base for Operation Resolute (border protection) and maritime surveillance operations in northern waters. Personnel at HMAS Cairns serve in roles involving sustained engine room noise, maritime operations, and the physical demands of small vessel operations. Hearing loss, tinnitus, musculoskeletal injuries, and skin conditions from prolonged tropical sun exposure are common among Cairns-based sailors.
Army units in North Queensland
While the major Army presence is in Townsville (Lavarack Barracks), many Army personnel are posted to or transit through Cairns for jungle training at the Jungle Training Wing in Tully, exercise deployments across Far North Queensland, and rest and recreation during operational cycles.
RAAF involvement
Cairns Airport supports occasional RAAF operations, and RAAF personnel posted to North Queensland may live in the Cairns region.
If you served at any of these locations, or anywhere else in QLD, and you have conditions related to your service, we can help you claim.
