RAP fundedLift and recliner chair
What it is
A powered chair that tilts forward to help you stand, and reclines for rest, commonly prescribed for hip, knee, back or cardiovascular conditions that make getting out of a normal chair difficult or unsafe.
It is funded through the Rehabilitation Appliances Program (RAP) at no cost to you. As a higher-cost item it is usually supplied through a DVA-contracted supplier that delivers, services and repairs the chair for free.
Who's eligible
You have at least one accepted DVA condition affecting mobility or strength, and an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or GP confirms the clinical need.
RAP is assessed on your accepted conditions and clinical need, not on your impairment points.
White Card holders can access RAP for their accepted conditions. Gold Card holders can access it for any clinical need.
How to get it

Ask your GP, occupational therapist or physiotherapist for an assessment against your accepted conditions.

They lodge the request through RAP, usually after a functional assessment to confirm the chair suits your height and needs.

Once approved, a DVA-contracted supplier delivers the chair at no cost to you.

The supplier handles servicing, repairs and replacement for free. Let them know if you no longer need it. General DVA enquiries: 1800 555 254.
